Welcome to Simply Excel
My name is Carine Hough, and I want to help you learn Excel :)
Learning new skills is best achieved by continual learning or regularly spending a bit of time, even if it is just a few minutes a day or week on a particular subject. Gradually, your knowledge base grows, and eventually you find yourself knowing enough to help others.
That is what I have learned while teaching myself to use Excel. I use excel every day in my work, and sometimes I discover (often by spending a whole lot of time on Google) that a task that I have performed over a hundred times before, can actually be done much quicker, have I used Excel's functions differently, or using a new function or formula altogether! These eye-openers change how efficient I work, how accurate my work is, and the best of all, it saves A LOT of time.
As I continue to learn every day, I want to share my discoveries with other Excel enthusiasts, who might also find these tips helpful and help you build on your Excel skills.
I have learned, the best way of learning new skills yourself, is by teaching others. And that is how I came about creating my blog, Simply Excel. By giving bite-sized lessons, Simply Excel will help you get to know the nifty little tricks that Excel holds in its treasure chest of capabilities, helping you... well... Simply excel in your work.

TEST YOUR SELF |
It is important that you learn by doing and not just reading endless blog posts. I have therefore uploaded Excel challenges that you can download and try for your self to test how well you understand certain topics and to develop your Excel skills. The more you practice, the better you will get.
Every challenge has a solution as well as a reference to a blog post that deals with the specific Excel skills required to complete the task if you have no idea where to start. Excel users of any skills level can attempt these challenges. Each challenge contains more than 1 task that varies in difficulty. I know these exercises will help you get better at Excel! |
